Featured Artists!

February 1st, 2008 by Christine

This month, Elaine & I - Fresh Photography - will be the featured artists at the Yale Street Market! We were even mentioned last week in the Chronicle!

Market coordinator Mitch Cohen says, “Christine and Elaine are what we are all about, finding your passion and sharing it with others. They’ve been chosen as a pair to be featured because everything about them is professional: High quality matted prints of their work, excellent booth display and a wonderful attitude. I see people return to their booth each month!” Cohen also pointed out that its artists like Mesker-Garcia and Tremoulet that have been the drive to keep the market going. Yale Street Arts Market will celebrate its fourth year next month.

The market is tomorrow, Saturday February 2nd, from 11am to 6pm. The arts market is located on the parking lot of Wind Water Asian Antiques Gallery at 548 W. 19th St. and open only on the first Saturday of each month, rain or shine year round. As we have been doing the market for over a year now, Elaine & I have decided to have a special sale this month to help make way to for new prints to be featured in the future - so come out and find some bargins! There will be door prizes too!

Mother Nature's Perfection

The above photograph is one of many that Elaine & I will have for sale this Saturday at the Yale Street Market! Come and visit the Fresh Photography booth and see what prints we have to offer. The market is a ton of fun - all the vendors are required to make what they sell and there are lot of great things available. There is also live music, plus fantastic shopping nearby in the Heights!

The market is during the daytime this month from 11am - 6pm, in the parking lot next to the Wind & Water Gallery, 548 West 19th Street Houston, TX 77008. Be sure to say hello if you come by!

Ella, The Birthday Girl!

August 26th, 2007 by Christine

Ella's First Birthday

Earlier this week, I was invited by the fabulous Katie and Adam to come over and spend time hanging out with them for Ella’s first birthday. Just look at that cutie! How could I resist? I’ve actually wanted to get Ella in front of my lens since this past spring when I first met her - so there was no way I was passing the chance up!

She was happy and bubbly when I first arrived at her house - I always say that people are most comfortable being photographed in their favorite places. However, the light & I weren’t getting along there very well, so I suggested going out to the park. She went into serious Ella mode - but I promise she was all smiles before this!

Last Friday I got to finally meet Mary, also known as Ella’s Happy Buela. Mary & I have exchanged emails for months now, ever since she started listening to the Pointy Sticks podcast. We never got to meet up though until now - and I am so glad we got to meet! She was finishing up Ella’s new birthday dress that she made, and she brought it up to Twisted Yarns so she could ask questions about it. It was such a joy having her join us in the Friday knitting circle! And Ella’s dress was so cute! She wore the dress for part of her birthday, and we got photos of her in it too.

Finding Her Light

I hope to get to spend more time with Ella in the future - she has such a great spirit and joy!

BarStool Magazine, July 2007

July 18th, 2007 by Christine

In Houston? Pick up a copy of the July issue of BarStool magazine and you’ll see my photographs in it! I photographed the bartender for the Bartender of the Month feature, and then did a separate shoot at Leon’s Lounge on McGowen in Midtown. It was such an incredible rush to see my photographs in print, and while I did a speed posting on Flickr, I can’t believe I didn’t share them in the blog too!

August’s issue will have more photographs by me, and photographs that Elaine took also - amazing stuff, I’m just bursting at the seams waiting to share!

Get Fresh!

July 9th, 2007 by Christine

Yale Street Market this month was a lot of fun, although we started off a bit wet! The rain stopped eventually and we were happy to see so many great people! Thanks for stopping by if you were one of them!

We’ve now started spotting the Weddings in Houston magazine on store shelves with our ad in the photography section! The ad went to print back in mid-May, and then in mid-June I made the difficult decision to move the wedding & portrait information over to my new site at ChristineTremoulet.com. Difficult mainly because of the ad! In the long run, I think it will be the right choice - so if you’re here because of WiH, go check out the wedding goodness over there!

And if you spot the latest issue on the shelf, be sure to check it out!

All the Buzz!

Carrie Ann 19It is that time again! Yale Street Market is this Saturday! Elaine & I will be there, and there will be lots of great prints for sale! The market is from 6pm - 10pm (Summer Hours!) and it is really a fun time.

Last month, Mitch asked me if I would go and photograph the performing artist for June, Carrie Ann Buchanan. I did, and gave him permission to use the photos with the press releases he has been sending out. The featured photograph here is also the featured image along with the information on Yale Street Market at the ArtsHound site! It is currently right on the first page. This morning, my Mom called me while reading the Houston Chronicle’s local weekend section. (Tomball, Klein & Spring) She had recognized the photo and we were specifically mentioned at being at the show! How cool is that?

Ashley at Baker Street Pub - Shot for BarStool Magazine HoustonToday, the latest copy of BarStool Magazine Houston will be hitting the streets, including my photos of the Bartender of the Month, Ashley at Baker Street Pub - Willowbrook! It was fun having a chance to photograph her a few weeks ago, and I’ve been anxiously waiting for the magazines to come out so that I could share! She is such a sweetheart - be sure to visit Baker Street Pub and have her pour you a Guinness or two! (But remember to drink responsibly.) I also shot photos of Leon’s Lounge for the magazine - what a cool place! The neighborhood bar, with unexpected chandaliers all over the place! That just amused me to no end. The people were friendly, the bartender was fun, and it is definitely a place to go visit.

We did a few other shoots for BarStool, but mums the word until the August issue comes out and they are featured in it!

Totally Nudds!

June 29th, 2007 by Christine

At the beginning of June, I attended a seminar called Elevate taught by Garrett and Joy Nudd. It was a fabulous, amazing, incredible trip, and made me look at my wedding and portrait photography through fresh eyes. (Fresh? Get it? I’m such a dork. Lame, but it totally amused me!) Matter of fact, it made me change how I was doing some things to the point that there will be big announcements here in the next few days! No, Fresh Photography isn’t going any where at all - but things are getting bigger and better!

I just had to share the video we made at the end of Elevate. Everything was wrapping up, we were running on zero sleep from the shoot-out and proofing session we had the night before, where we took pictures for several hours in the Florida heat and then stayed up past 3 am editing them, and well … we were all punchy. And sappy, since it was ending and it had been such a great experience. I will be sharing more on the photographers that were there and linking to them soon, but for now - here is the video.

Thanks again to Gene Higa, the awesome destination wedding photographer and the fabulous Ann Hamilton for letting me climb all over their bed. Of course, there are pictures to go with that story, and I’ll post them soon!

The Blogger Wedding of the Year!

June 20th, 2007 by Christine

Dubbed “The Blogger Wedding of the Year! ™”, the wedding of Jim & Leia was a beautiful, intimate affair held in the backyard of their home in Dallas, Texas. They invited a small core of family and out of town guests to the ceremony, and then for the reception they opened their house and had a great big PARTY! From the toasting beer mugs to the chocolate fountain, fun was had by everyone that was there. Oh! And there were cupcakes, with goodies to decorate them with! The weather threatened all day long to rain them out and force us all indoors, but the tent went up early, the weather cleared up for us, and aside from the slightly soggy ground which liked to eat the high-heeled shoes, it was a lovely day.

Ah, good times, good times. It was such an honor to be asked by Jim & Leia to share in and capture this very special day in their life! And as an added perk, a huge box showed up from Amazon yesterday with my very own chocolate fountain! How cool is that? Now I just need to figure out where to get one of those cool blow-up microphones. Then our party set-up will be complete!

Cooper

June 19th, 2007 by Christine

Oh goodness, the last slideshow was so much fun, I had to do another one! This is the slideshow from Cooper’s newborn portrait session from a few months ago. He was such a sweet, sweet newborn, and it was such an honor to have an opportunity to photograph Julia’s first grandchild and Kandis’s son. Kandis was so great about giving me a ton of time with him, even though she had not been feeling well and running a fever.

Another perk of the in-home session? Mom can relax and unwind and watch while I spend time with the baby! She doesn’t even have to leave the house!
